On the border between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda exists a lake called Lake Kivu. In that lake there is an island called Idjwi. This island is fascinatingly the second largest island in a lake on the continent of Africa, and home to many people from neighboring parts of Congo as well as, historically, refugees from Rwanda fleeing war. Agriculture is one of the main sources of revenue for the people that live on the island of Idjwi, and women are the primary coffee growers. This coffee, which has almost a purplish hue, has a surprising spice taste of nutty spices and dark chocolate that will excite the taste buds.
